The Purple Initiative Medical Outreach – Osogbo, Osun State

The Benson Adeyemi Foundation (BAF) continues to deliver on its vision of improving lives, one person at a time. As part of its commitment to providing accessible healthcare, BAF organized a medical outreach under its flagship health program, The Purple Initiative, in Osogbo, Osun State. This initiative offers free medical check-ups, including blood pressure and sugar level screenings, as well as on-site consultations with qualified medical professionals.

Objectives

The primary aim of this outreach was to improve community health awareness by helping individuals understand their health status and providing them with professional guidance and necessary medications. By partnering with local stakeholders, BAF sought to strengthen access to basic healthcare services and promote overall well-being.

Activities

The outreach was held in partnership with Joint Heirs Osogbo, at the heart of the Osun State capital. The program commenced at 9:00 a.m. and concluded at 2:30 p.m.

The process for each participant was well-structured and efficient. Beneficiaries began with registration, followed by weight and height measurements, data collection, and vital signs assessments. Where necessary, participants were directed for medical consultations with doctors and were given appropriate medications free of charge.

The outreach was powered by a dedicated team comprising four doctors, eight nurses, one ophthalmologist, one pharmacist, one media personnel, four team members, and forty-three volunteers, all working together to ensure a smooth and professional experience for everyone.

Outcomes and Impact

The outreach successfully provided medical assistance to 240 individuals between the ages of 5 and 81, including 168 females and 72 males. Beyond the numbers, the program had a meaningful impact on the lives of participants, many of whom expressed deep appreciation for the free health services provided.

Community members highlighted that this initiative not only addressed immediate health concerns but also encouraged them to take proactive steps toward better health management.

Through The Purple Initiative, BAF continues to create opportunities for improved health outcomes by working hand-in-hand with local partners and volunteers.
