Mini-Medical Outreach – Alekuwodo Market, Osogbo, Osun State

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving lives, the Benson Adeyemi Foundation (BAF) organized a mini-medical outreach under its flagship program, The Purple Initiative, at Alekuwodo Market in Osogbo, Osun State. The initiative provided free medical services, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, along with on-site consultations with doctors, enabling market men and women to gain valuable insight into their health status.

Objectives

The goal of this outreach was to bring essential healthcare services directly to traders and market visitors, ensuring they had easy access to screenings and consultations without leaving their place of work. The program also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular health monitoring to prevent complications from conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

Activities

The BAF team arrived at Alekuwodo Market and set up stations to accommodate a smooth flow of participants. The outreach commenced at 9:45 a.m. and concluded at 2:20 p.m.

Each participant proceeded through a structured process of registration, vital signs assessment, and consultations with doctors where necessary. Medications were provided free of charge when required.

The outreach team was composed of six nurses, two doctors, one pharmacist, one media personnel, four BAF team members, and numerous volunteers who worked together to ensure that services were delivered efficiently and professionally.

Outcomes and Impact

The outreach served 57 beneficiaries, including 20 females and 37 males, aged between 29 and 65 years. The market community expressed heartfelt appreciation for the services rendered, emphasizing how meaningful it was to receive free health checks and medical advice at their place of work.

This initiative strengthened trust between BAF and the community, encouraging participants to prioritize their health and seek follow-up care where needed.
