Isikan Palace Medical Outreach – Akure, Ondo State

On 12 July 2025, the Benson Adeyemi Foundation (BAF), in partnership with the Luciano Foundation, organized a medical outreach program at Isikan Palace in Akure, Ondo State. This initiative was designed to provide essential health services to underserved members of the community, raise health awareness, and improve access to basic medical care.

Objectives

The primary goal of the outreach was to deliver preventive health services and medical support to the community, ensuring that beneficiaries received timely intervention for common health concerns. The program also sought to educate participants about the importance of proper nutrition and preventive health practices.

Activities

The event began at 10:00 a.m. with an introductory address by one of the attending doctors, who encouraged community members to prioritize their health and practice preventive care.

A well-coordinated team worked together to deliver services, including six nurses, two doctors, one pharmacist, two media personnel, five volunteers, five Luciano Foundation team members, members of the Red Cross, and one nutritionist.

Participants were provided with the following services:

  • Blood pressure checks
  • Blood sugar screenings
  • Nutrition education sessions
  • Medical consultations with physicians
  • Free distribution of prescribed medications

The active presence of community kings and local leaders gave the event additional significance and helped foster trust and participation among residents.

Outcomes and Impact

The outreach served a total of 156 individuals, including 106 females and 50 males. The community’s engagement was enthusiastic, and the program received significant appreciation from attendees.

Beneficiaries expressed that the outreach addressed a critical need, as many community members face financial barriers that limit access to medical services. The provision of free consultations and medications helped relieve this burden and contributed to improved well-being for participants.

Conclusion

The Isikan Palace medical outreach was a success, achieving its goal of improving access to essential healthcare and strengthening community trust. The collaboration between BAF, the Luciano Foundation, local leaders, and volunteers showcased the power of partnerships in addressing health challenges at the grassroots level.

Through initiatives like this, BAF continues to advance its mission of improving lives by bridging healthcare gaps and empowering communities to take charge of their health.
